Read the pattern
Corners, roof lines, pipe routes and the backs of furniture tell different stories. Note when a mark appears, what happened before it, and whether the area can dry. Fix the water source before treating the finish.
Persistent dampness and mould are associated with respiratory harm. There is no universal safe spore count that turns a complex building into a simple pass or fail.
Act on the source
Leaks, rain entry, condensation and ground moisture call for different repairs. If the area is extensive, repeatedly returns or affects vulnerable occupants, seek qualified local building and health advice.
